| Do your novels have a
moral dimension?
Are they about poor, downtrodden individuals? A misunderstood, mistreated, miserable lot who are in need of help and sympathy? Do they support any causes? Will
they draw to the reader's (or readers') attention the terrible lives people
are forced to endure? Great!
If your novels have any kind of
moral dimension there is sure to be a group out there that supports it.
For example: Our first customer, author of The Spawater Chronicles, has written two books covering three subjects. These are: Bad television - battery chickens - Identity Cards. Naturally, there are groups that take an interest in these subjects. They have been informed. In your case, contact sympathetic groups and get them to read your opening chapters. A comments page is available for people to leave their comments on your two books so that you, and agents, and publishers, can see what readers think. Whatever the subject of your books,
they are bound to be of interest to a group somewhere in the world. Find
them and enlist their support! Suppose your stuff is any good.* Suppose people who see your opening chapters spread the word. Suppose 5000 people leave messages saying they would like to know what happens next.
What would that do to your chances of getting a deal? Make the effort - Contact any organisation that might be interested and offer them a free link to their website in return for them mentioning your book to their members. |
