is the idea. Being an agent or a talent spotter for a publisher can be soul destroying. There you are, with a Monday morning head, arriving at your desk to find a mountain of manuscripts and synopses, 90% of which will be unreadable and 9% will be of no interest to anyone outside the 'author's' family circle or local neighbourhood. And that is on a good day! This is where we come in. Putative authors
submit their opening chapters to us, two books minimum to
keep out the posers, and we reject the unsuitable stuff. The theory is that if a writer gets rave reviews from readers it will excite your interest and strengthen their hand when trying for a publishing contract. If writers get slaughtered, they can learn from that too, and either get a proper job or learn to write stuff that people are willing to pay for. Naturally, writers will beg their friends to write nice things about their work, but you know that and can make suitable allowances. Should a writer have thousands of friends, it might be worthwhile making a deal anyway! It will cost you £100. We are a commercial enterprise and it costs us money to assess people's work. We do not enjoy reading rubbish any more than you do. We filter out the unsuitable submissions and save you time and trouble. We only allow competent work on our site. Why don't we just take people's money and put up all work submitted to us, no matter how awful? Simple. If we did that, agents and publishers would soon twig and stop visiting our site. We would be out of business. When we can boast a few publishing success we will put up our prices. No-one can bribe their way onto our site; it is quality that counts. If you like an author's work, contact us by clicking below and we will invite the author to contact you. We will give you our address and you can send us £100. Please note that the first ten authors will be placed for free. This link is also for general enquiries. Feel free to use our Scam Page for anything to do with publishing and the writing game. |
